This book is like FA on steroids!!!! It's a more organized and easier to read (many nice tables-esp. for pharm) version of FA. It have a little more details than FA. This book + FA + perhaps pathoma/Goljan = Ultimate USMLE review. I really wish I had this book back during basic sciences in med school.

Nice duets for advanced beginners

My adult advanced beginner students love the music in this book. It comes with a first and second violin section. It got 4 stars because I wish it was published with both lines together on the same page or with a better numbering/lettering system rather than in separate books. We have gone through and written in measure numbers at the beginnings of major phrasing which took time but has made this work much better. They are progressive duets and start at roughly a Suzuki book 3 level maybe late book 2. Two fingered double stops are introduced in duet #3. Flat keys begin with duet 5. Third position comes into play in duet 7. In any case, the music is lovely and I've ordered this many times and will continue to do so.

This set has saved me tons of headache and stress. The duets are simple, especially for the professional violinist who needs filler music for various events. I have use these as church preludes, postludes and dinner parties. They are great teaching tools to students. I on occasion will have my students work on these and perform them at recitals.

About the Author

William R. Levacy holds a B.A. in literature and an M.A. in Education. He has been a practitioner of Vedic astrology or Jyotish, as it is called in India, since 1983. Bill also received a master’s degree in the Science of Creative Intelligence in 1977 from Maharishi European Research University, where he concentrated his studies on Vedic science. In 1996, Levacy was one of a very few Westerners to ever receive the prestigious Jyotish Kovid award from the Bangalore Chapter of the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS). His two decades of experience as a business consultant in the aerospace industry contributes to the practical, yet personal nature of his readings; and is reflected in his practical work on Vedic astrology, Beneath a Vedic Sky.

Highly Recommended!

William Levacy takes a complex subject and translates it gracefully into a great book about Vedic Astrology, life purpose, and career. He has spent over two decades as a Vedic astrologer, has over 20 years experience as a performance specialist in the aerospace business, and has done over 10,000 Vedic Astrology charts for people over the years. I heard Levacy speak on Hay House Radio, and wanted to know more about him and his work both on a personal level and because as a counselor I see clients who are frustrated or burned out in their careers or may be making a life transition and are unsure of what to do next.

The book is divided into four parts, which helps make the material easier to grasp, and it includes a sample CD of Vedic astrology software, so readers can see the basics of what a chart looks like. If you're new to this subject, like I am, you may want to read his other books for more basics about Vedic Astrology (such as Beneath a Vedic Sky, or Vedic Astrology Simply Put-available February 2007), but this is one of the best books I've ever read about career and life purpose and it's helped me tremendously on a personal and professional level.

A Wonderful Spritual/Practical Manual

As a full-time Vedic astrologer of many years, and a fortunate former student of William Levacy, I absolutely love this beautiful book. It takes both a macro, "universal" perspective, explaining the breadth and depth of the philosophies and history of ancient Vedic knowledge, with the micro "personal" perspective of all the ways to understand your individual chart in terms of your talents and career success. Reading this book is like sitting at the feet of the master himself - the power of this writer's brain is astonishing, and yet he makes the information all delightfully available and digestable for everyone from the seasoned student to the beginning seeker. His incredible attention to detail blended with simple, philosophical explanations provides wisdom that can be applied to anyone in any area of their lives.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to further their understanding of their journey in life, astrology, and all things Vedic.

Discover Your Dharma !

Peace of Mind. That is how I felt after reading Bill Levacy's new book. Beneath a Vedic Sun has helped my entire family. My husband and I learned so much about ourselves, our career paths and our greater life purpose after reading through the entire book, and examining our birth charts. It confirmed the things we were already doing right, and helped us to take specific action where we needed improvement. We also used the information in the book to understand, guide and support our three year old daughter, whose talents are just budding.

Since reading the book, and refering back to it over and over again, I feel a great peace in my mind. I trust in the universe that my entire family is heading in the right direction, and we just have to sit back and enjoy the ride!!

As an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I will definitely reccomend this book to my clients, who are searching for their personal dharma.

Get ready for some serious reality checks!!! (And to buy nook 5 at the end!!)

Book four couldn't be any better it is!!!! Harper comes into her own and Jackson finally reveals more about himself! As usual I could not put this book down! It's after midnight and I'm writing this review, that's how amazing this book and even series is!! I don't want to spoil the story line for book four, I f you read other reviews you'll find out the craxy twists and turns between the Order, Harper and the Shadow Demons! The High Council's actions are really going to surprise you!! Of course I have already bought book 5 and I am about to start reading it!! I have to find out what happens to Harper and Mrs. Ashworth!!

Stayed up all night

The Shadow Demons Saga is a fast paced book. To be honest, I tend to get a bit bored by now in series, but I am happily hanging in there. These books are page turners. I finished one book, then decided to status and read and then finish this book.
And... I just bought the next one!
You won't be disappointed.

Gr. 1-3. On the hottest day Mr. Wright's class has ever seen, the teacher gives punctuation a vacation! Insulted, the punctuation marks take off, and a few days later postcards arrive from Take-a-Break Lake. The kids want to write back, but they can't without any punctuation. Borrowing the unruly marks from the class next door, they write a letter begging the marks to return, a letter filled with usage errors that effectively makes their case. Childlike acrylic paintings on canvas "punctuate" the zaniness by turning the marks into characters whose banter exemplifies the marks' use. The messages on the postcards further typify usage (e.g., "Do you miss us? How much? Why couldn't we take a vacation sooner? Guess who?"). A straightforward list of punctuation rules rounds out this inventive and entertaining device for getting kids to understand usage, which proves that nothing makes sense without punctuation. Right? A Story With All The Right Marks!

This was a great book. It really shows how important punctuation is when writing. Punctuation takes a break from its work in a classroom and soon the students find that their world is a little more crazy without the marks to make it mind. The story line was well thought out and the list at the end of the book is a great teaching tool. The illustrations are wonderful. I also enjoyed the personality traits given to the individual marks of punctuation.

A World Without Punctuation?

This is a great tool for showing children the importance of punctuation in a fun format. In this book a teacher decides to give punctuation a vacation. Postcards arrive and the reader has to guess which form of punctuation wrote it to the class. Children are able to make connections to the chaos of not having punctuation and how it impacts understanding. Fortunately, punctuation returns and classroom life is much improved. I recommend this book.
