Lacking in both strategy and binding!

Normally, I have loved BradyGames guides, and have found them to be full of useful strategy, excellent layouts and essential maps to be able to accomplish everything possible in a game. Recently however, their quality has suffered tremendously, and the Bully OSG is one of the shoddiest strategy guides, and in fact books, I've ever come across.

The strategy in most parts of the book is either severely lacking, misleading, or just plain wrong. While the lists of where items are located tend to be accurate, they are about the only consistently accurate aspects of the guide. Times of classes are mixed up, strategies for passing missions and even classes are either nowhere near optimal or are just plain wrong (the main strategy given for passing Shop Class is the exact opposite of what one actually needs to do to pass), and even requirements for how to unlock certain tasks are nowhere near as detailed as they should be. A rather poor job by Tim Bogenn, and one not excused by the changes that likely occurred between the writing of the guide and the final version of the game due to basic strategies being deeply flawed.

But even the bad strategy is nowhere near the worst thing about the guide. This is supposed to be a "Signature Series" guide where production values are through the roof and exclusives are to be found. First off, I'm unaware of any exclusive or special feature that would make this a "Signature Series" worthy guide.

But most importantly, after approximately fifteen minutes of using the guide's maps to find all of the collectible items, the pages started falling out of the guide!!! I currently have a guide that is missing six pages near the beginning due to the pages just coming loose and falling out of the book, and there are about three more that are perilously close to falling out, making me scared to even open the book. In my over ten years of playing video games and buying the strategy guides for them, this has never happened to me, and is absolutely inexcusable.

While the shoddiness of the Bully guide isn't enough to make me not buy BradyGames guides anymore, it is an alarmingly bad production from content to binding, and makes me seriously concerned about the quality control that is currently going on at BradyGames. Other recent guides from BradyGames have been rather lackluster for similar content accuracy and strategy reasons (the Kingdom Hearts 2 OSG leaps to mind), though thankfully none have had the binding issues of the Bully guide.

For now, I would suggest not buying a BradyGames guide without examining its content and apparently its binding quality before purchase. I have never rated a product one star before, but this one deserves that rating.

Good guide.

This is a good guide for the PS2 game "Bully". I bought the game to play and to see what all the hipe was about. Typical game where your character must fight for his life no matter what he does. Anyway, I got stuck in a particular spot in the game and Amazon was the only place where I was able to find this guide at a reasonable price. The inforomation inside this guide book helped out and was what I was expecting. After I ordered this guide through Amazon, I literally had it in my grubby hands within 3 calender days - was not expecting that. Again, price was reasonable.

Great starting point and a good reference. Brushes subtleties under the rug

This book contains the essentials. It is a large book and includes many topics. The presentation is clear and lucid. I do wish, however, that the authors better conveyed the subtleties behind many of the topics. The book is written in a way that you won't necessarily appreciate important assumptions being made is some of the derivations. Relaxing some of those assumptions can lead to very different physics. For example, the lab vs. center of mass frame dynamics/energies in dynamical friction; the actual dynamics in the lab frame can analytically be derived of course but is much more subtle:

But the book gives you the feeling that it is all very simple and done.

Nevertheless it serves as an excellent reference and perhaps the best starting point when working on problems in Galactic Dynamics. One feels that a more concise and frank text can be written that contains the fundamental of galactic dynamics and plasma physics in one-shot (perhaps it has been written and I am not aware).

A classic, updated

The bible of galactic dynamics. I like having it handy on all my devices rather than having to lug around the heavy book. While the content of the book is beyond reproach I dock one star for ebook production issues. The equations and figures were scanned at low resolution so they do not look good on high-resolution (retina) displays. The figures need to be scanned at higher resolution. The equations should be done with high-resolution scans or by generating them directly from the TeX source and using high-resolution fonts.

anyone with any interest in yoga or meditation, must buy this book.

I'm almost laughing just thinking about its price of five dollars..

I put it in my Amazon cart because Swami wrote my first yoga book [Integral Hatha Yoga] and I knew him to be a genuine authority on Hatha Yoga, and, as I was also buying Swami's translation of 'Yoga Sutras of Patanjali' [also, a treasure of its type] and having an interest in meditation generally.. five dollars..

31 pages, subtitled 'Excerpts from talks by Sri Swami Satchidananda',
cant be much . . . how pleasantly surprised was I !

this is a genuine how-to guide which anyone could use with success . .

its small size and give-away price together with its structure make it obvious that this little treasure has been produced as a gift to us ..

it has EVERYTHING from how to sit on the pillow to what to do with your eyeballs to what mantras to use and how they actually work, to [pauses]
but, short description here could not do this little book justice..

This little book is perfect for the new, or even more experienced, meditator. It guides through different methods of meditation in a clear, concise manner, and is small enough to take with you wherever you go, as a reminder to take a few moments to "go inside". This book will be helpful to nearly everyone, and I highly recommend it.
