The book is much more than a gallery of cover letters, although it is that as well. The first quarter of the book takes you through building your own cover letter from scratch and assists you in tailoring it to specific ads/conditions (i.e. pre-interview/no interview etc). This alone was quite useful. The remainder of the book is a huge omnibus of every imaginable type of cover letter, broken down by industry and also format. There are at least 8 to 10 cover letters per industry/type of job and each is written in a different format and by persons of differing circumstances. It will definitely get your creative juices flowing and assist you in crafting a perfect cover letter for the job you want. I almost forgot, there is a section containing eye catching resumes as well.

I have written three to four cover letters using the tips from the book, and also some of the examples for inspiration (I'll let you know how it goes :) ). This is definitely top notch and does precisely as advertised. Good Book, still has some errors.

This is a good textbook that really helped me gain a good understanding of monetary policy. It covers current topics such as inflation targeting, the Taylor principle, sterilized currency intervention and the zero lower bound. The book also covered supply and demand for investments and what factors cause supply and demand to increase and decrease.

I feel like I have a good grasp of what is going on currently inside the Fed. Bernanke is using inflation targeting and Mishkin is a proponent of the tactic. It also covered quantitative easing and the time preference theory of bond investment. I think I have a good grasp of the topic. Several chapters have appendices that are available for free online. Reading through those was an extra bonus when it came to test time.

The book did have a couple of errors. Sometimes it would be a slight grammar error or a slight math error. Sometimes it would say something that was completely the opposite of what it said in the next sentence. Fortunately there was enough content that I was able to work through these but to notice an error every 50 pages or so was grating. A book in its tenth edition should not have these issues.

Because I found this book to be a great supplement to my macroeconomic studies I'll rate it highly. For the crazy prices that publishers charge for textbooks, this book deserves another rundown from the editors.

This is a brilliant book. I bought this as a lay person to understand how banking and the markets work. Its so well written and easy to follow. He really breaks things down so you can really understand, he does not use abbreviations without explaining them, and he guides you to comprehend everything. its clear he really knows banking and the markets and really teaches you. I've learned so much, and now can follow and understand the news and papers, and annual reports much better.

What Do You Know, An Economics Textbook...

Well, I am using this book for a course need for my Master's program. The book itself, is well, a book. However, it can be extremely dry (i know, surprise, surprise), but is an overall easy read. The book came packaged well and was in excellent condition. I would not recommend this book as a free-read, but if you need to purchase it for a course, this is probably your best option (price, shipping, and quality)!

About the Author
Karen Gocsik is director of the Warren College Writing Program at the University of California, San Diego, where she teaches first-year composition and a graduate-level training course for the program’s teaching assistants. Professor Gocsik previously taught first-year writing at Dartmouth College, where she was also Executive Director of the Writing & Rhetoric Program. In 2012, Professor Gocsik was nationally recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the “300 Best Professors in America.”

Dave Monahan (M.F.A., Columbia University) is Associate Professor and Chair of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. His work as a writer, director, or editor includes Ringo (2005), Monkey Junction (2005), Prime Time (1996), and Angels Watching Over Me (1993). His work has been screened internationally in over fifty film festivals and has earned numerous awards, including the New Line Cinema Award for Most Original Film (Prime Time) and the Seattle International Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Best Animated Short Film (Ringo).

Richard Barsam (Ph.D., University of Southern California) is Professor Emeritus of Film Studies at Hunter College, City University of New York. He is the author of Nonfiction Film: A Critical History (rev., exp. ed. 1992), The Vision of Robert Flaherty: The Artist as Myth and Filmmaker (1988), In the Dark: A Primer for the Movies (1977), and Filmguide to "Triumph of the Will" (1975); editor of Nonfiction Film Theory and Criticism (1976); and contributing author to Paul Monaco’s The Sixties: 1960–1969 (Vol. 8, History of the American Cinema, 2001) and Filming Robert Flaherty’s "Louisiana Story": The Helen Van Dongen Diary (ed. Eva Orbanz, 1998). His articles and book reviews have appeared in Cinema Journal, Quarterly Review of Film Studies, Film Comment, Studies in Visual Communication, and Harper’s. He has been a member of the Executive Council of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, the Editorial Board of Cinema Journal, and the Board of Advisers of the History of American Cinema series, and he cofounded the journal Persistence of Vision.

Told me what I needed to know

I needed this book for a humanities course for film appreciation and I just needed to know some vital facts about the world of film, editing, sound, mese en scene, etc. This book contains all of that information in a short, well-written, paperback version of the facts. Great price!

Short book bought it for Film class in college and it was inexpensive. Also the writing in the book, unlike most of these guide books are short clear and concise.
