Though Alex finds himself in a few tight spots, his courage and ingenuity prevent the school's power-mad directors from using adolescent clones to take over the world. Author Anthony Horowitz packs plenty of action into his latest young adult thriller (Philomel, 2002). An exploding helicopter, a machine gunning strike force, and other shootings provide standard superspy-style violence. There's even the classic Bond ending with a last-minute villain to be dispatched. Narrator Simon Prebble adroitly handles a widely diverse cast of characters that includes several distinctive accents. With a plastic case that is both durable and informative, and good sound quality cassettes that are well-marked, this will be popular with listeners who like living on the edge vicariously.

When I picked up the book at a Literature Festival, I knew for a fact that this is going to be magnificent. A few days into reading, and I knew I wasn’t wrong. I was hooked onto it. The effect the writing had on me was almost immediate. Every time I opened the book to read it, the characters came out alive. I grew so fond of the characters, that I had them on my mind even after I closed the book. That, in all probability is the power of portrayal. After the actual event in history nearly 100 years ago, life has once again been bequeathed to them through the book. These individuals now hold a very distinctive place in my heart, especially the protagonist- Queen Sethu Lakshmi Bayi. Effortlessly, I was able to make a personal connection with the writing and without a doubt, every other reader would too. The effort that has been put into the book is incredible and nearly unimaginable. 6 years of massive research and here is an outcome that is so majestic. The book promises to leave you educated on the history of Kerala while making sure it holds your interest till the end. This beautiful and engaging rendering of the story of the Queens of Travancore is a must-read and I highly recommend it!

About the Author

Glenn Cooper studied archaeology at Harvard before becoming a physician specializing in infectious diseases. After a career in research, he became a biotechnology chief executive officer. He has written multiple screenplays and runs an independent film production company based in Boston. He lives in Massachusetts in one of the oldest houses in America. 5 Bloody Stars

Bethany Kris is a phenomenal writer. Every story she releases will forever stay with me. Loved every single book by her, not one have I not liked. The Filthy Marcello's collection features Anton and his three sons Lucian, Giovanni, and Dante. So its four books in one, pretty awesome deal. Nobody messes with the Marcello's, everyone knows that if they do, expect to have a bullet through the head. They own the city, and nobody takes what's there's! This is my favorite series by the Lovely Bethany, and she got me hooked to mafia romance.
A must read series!
Giovanni is my personal favorite. The black sheep, the lone wolf. Sigh just writing this review, makes me want to read his book again.

Mafia Hard.....Good And Filthy

Bethany-Kris has a way of telling a story that immediately captures your attention and draws you in. She has a unique way of twisting the family bond through the intrigue of each Filthy Marcello story. This family structure is unique to Mafia stories. The family is not only strong in their crime circuit but strong as a family. The father and sons have each other's backs. They are four strong...Lucian, Giovanni, Dante, and Antony....and they are filthy!

Lucian's story gives a feel of the family dynamics along with his story. He is the eldest. A strong alpha male who knows what he wants. Once he sets his sights on Jordyn, he is a man on a mission. A mission to protect his family and Jordyn. He is Marcello strong.

Giovanni's story shows us what it is like to be the youngest in the Marcello crime family. He is standoffish to outsiders although he loves the ladies. He does his job as a Capo well. It is what he loves about his life. This is until he meets Kim.

Dante's story is about a shift in the family and how it changes him. He needs to lead the family in his way in the direction he wants. In order to do this, he has to have a woman by his side. Catrina is this woman for him. A partner in all sides of life. She is one of the strongest woman characters I have read in a long time. Dante isn't even ready for how strong she is.

Antony's story gives us background on him, Cecelia and the family. I loved both of them in the prior books, so it was exciting to read their story. The story of how they became filthy. The story of Antony's role in La Cosa Nostra.

This series provides intrigue and suspense. The Marcello family continues to live life as a strong family along with a strong Mafia crew. They are unique in their strength for each other. This is one of my ultimate favorite mafia romance series. Thanks, Bethany-Kris. I love these filthy boys.

Another highly penned mafia family romance; the entire collection

I first heard of Bethany-Kris with her Chicago War series -- another mafia/crime family romantic series. That one followed the members of the famiglia, some of whom were bound by blood; Filthy Marcellos was released first, though, and follows only blood.

I always knew I wanted to continue reading Bethany-Kris's books; she writes the crime family extremely well. So I knew that at some point I would read this story. After the Marcellos made a cameo in Chicago War, though, I knew it had to happen quickly.

I very much enjoyed this family. I loved the fight and the emotion; I loved the broken ones and I loved watching everyone falling and finding what their parents had/have. If crime romance is for you, pick this up. If highly protective alpha men are for you, pick this up.

And if series that morph into new series that follow the next generation? Pick this up.

Because this is a series that's going to keep giving, and I cannot wait.
